Ternopil (until 1944— Tarnopol)—a city, the administrative center of Ternopil region. A Jewish community settled here in the 16th century. In 1931, there were 13,999 Jews in the town. Ternopil was occupied on July 2, 1941, soon after the beginning of the German-Soviet war. Jewish labor camps were set up in the surrounding settlements, one of them in the village of Velykyi Hlybochok, 10 km away from Ternopil. Implementing the Holocaust policy, on July 23, 1943, about 640 prisoners of the camp were shot dead near the Seret River, their bodies doused in gasoline and set on fire. In April 1944, this territory was taken over by the Red Army.

Тернопіль (до 1944 р. Тарнополь) – місто, адміністративний центр однойменної області, де із XVI ст. проживала іудейська громада. Станом на 1931 р. у місті було зареєстровано 13 999 євреїв. Із початком німецько-радянської війни, Тернопіль був окупований 2 липня 1941 р. У навколишніх населених пунктах були створені єврейські робітничі табори, один з них у селі Великий Глибочок, що за 10 км від Тернополя. Втілюючи політику Голокосту 23 липня 1943 р. близько 640 бранців табору були розстріляні поблизу річки Серет, їхні тіла облили бензином і підпалили. У квітні 1944 р. дану територію зайняла Червона армія.
