Lanivtsi is a town in Kremenets district of Ternopil region. The Jewish community has been known here since the second half of the 16th century. As of 1897, 1,174 Jews lived in Lanivtsi, comprising 46% of the local population. The Nazi occupation of the town started on July 3, 1941. With the establishment of Nazi rule, the implementation of Holocaust policy began. On February 28, 1942, a ghetto was established in Lanivtsi, to which all Jews were forcibly relocated. The next step was the destruction of the Jewish community. Jews from the Lanivtsi ghetto were shot dead on August 14 (2), 1942 in a local Jewish cemetery. Some tried to save their lives and went into hiding. About 40 such fugitives were caught and shot the same day or in the following days in the ghetto. The killings of Jews also took place near the surrounding villages of Bilozirka and Predmirka. On Sunday, March 5, 1944, Lanivtsi was taken over by the Red Army. |

Ланівці – містечко у Кременецькому районі Тернопільської області. Іудейська громада відома тут з другої половини XVI ст. Станом на 1897 р. у Ланівцях проживало 1 174 євреї, які складали 46% всього населення. Період нацистської окупації для містечка розпочався 3 липня 1941 р. Із встановленням нацистської влади розпочалось втілення політики Голокосту. 28 лютого 1942 р. у Ланівцях було створено гетто до якого примусово переселили всіх євреїв. Наступним етапом стало знищення іудейської громади. Євреї з гетто в Ланівцях були розстріляні 14 (2) серпня 1942 р. на місцевому іудейському цвинтарі. Дехто намагався врятувати свої життя і переховувався. Близько 40 таких втікачів спіймали і розстріляли того ж дня або в наступні дні на території гетто. Вбивства євреїв відбувались також поблизу навколишніх сіл Білозірка і Передмірка. 5 березня 1944 р. Ланівці зайняла Червона армія. |
