Hoshcha is a town in Hoshcha District of Rivne Region. The first mention of the settlement dates back to 1152. In the early 20th century, there were 884 Jews in Hoshcha. On the eve of World War II, the number of Jews was about 1,000. Hoshcha was occupied by Nazi troops on July 4, 1941 and became a part of Rivne Gebiet of Volyn-Podillia General District. In 1941, several executions of Jews took place in Hoshcha. The first shooting took place in the village in late July 1941, killing 10 Jews. There is no monument at the place of execution. After the occupation, anti-Jewish measures were introduced in Hoshcha, which were also in force in other settlements of Volyn-Podillia General District. In particular, a Judenrat was established; the obligatory wearing of identification marks was introduced; Jews were used for forced labor; they were subjected to repeated looting and violence. Some Jews were registered as craftsmen—this was their temporary chance for salvation. The Jews were shot on May 20, 1942 in the forest near the village of Symoniv. A ghetto was established in Hoshcha after the shooting. The ghetto was liquidated in late Septermber 1942. 40 Jews who had been in hiding were killed during the liquidation. The bodies of the victims were buried in Symonivskyi Forest. There is no monument at the place of execution. Hoshcha was liberated on January 16, 1944. |

Гоща – селище міського типу Гощанського району Рівненської області. Перші згадки про поселення датуються 1152 р. На початку ХХ ст. євреї у Гощі складали 884 чол. Напередодні Другої світової війни чисельність євреїв складала близько 1,000 чол. Нацистськими військами Гоща була окупована 4 липня 1941 р. та входила до гебіту Рівне генерального округу «Волинь-Поділля». Впродовж 1941 р. у Гощі відбулося декілька розстрілів євреїв. Перший розстріл відбувся на території селища у кінці липня 1941 р., у наслідок якого було вбито 10 євреїв. На місці розстрілу пам’ятник відсутній. Після окупації у Гощі були введені антиєврейські заходи, які діяли й в інших населених пунктах генерального округу «Волинь-Поділля». Зокрема, було створено юденрат, запроваджено обов’язкове носіння розпізнавальних знаків, євреїв використовували для примусових робіт, вони піддавалися постійним грабежам та насиллю. Євреї, які отримали ремісничі картки, разом з ними отримали шанс на тимчасовий порятунок. Розстріл євреїв 20 травня 1942 р. було здійснено у лісі села Симонів. Після цього вбивства в Гощі було створено гетто. Ліквідація останнього відбулася у кінці вересня 1942 р. Під час ліквідації на території селища було вбито 40 євреїв, які переховувалися. Тіла жертв були поховані у Симонівському лісі. На місці розстрілу пам’ятник відсутній. Гощу було звільнено 16 січня 1944 р. |
