Verba is a village in Dubno district of Rivne region. The first mention of the village dates back to 1442. In 1897, 452 Jews lived in Verba. In the 1920s, the number of Jews in Verba was 228. Verba was occupied by Nazi troops on June 25, 1941; it became a part of Dubno Gebiet. After the occupation of Verba, just like in other places, anti-Jewish measures were introduced: wearing of identification badges, establishing a Judenrat, using Jews to perform forced labor. About 400 Jews found themselves under Nazi occupation. In May 1942, a ghetto was established in the village of Verba; it existed for ten days. The execution of Jews took place on May 30, 1942 in the village of Hranivka. 350 Jews were killed because of liquidation of the ghetto. An SD detachment from Rivne, a platoon of the 1st company of the 33rd reserve police battalion took part in the shooting. Verba was liberated on March 19, 1944. There is no monument at the place of execution. |

Верба – село Дубенського району Рівненської області. Перша згадка про село з’являється у 1442 р. Згідно перепису населення 1897 р. у Вербі проживало 452 єврея. У 1920-х рр. чисельність євреїв у Вербі складала 228 чоловік. Нацистськими військами Верба була окупована 25 червня 1941 р. та увійшла до гебіту Дубно. Після окупації у Вербі, як і в інших місцевостях почали діяти антиєврейські заходи: введено носіння розпізнавальних знаків, створено юденрат, євреїв використовували для виконання примусових робіт. Близько 400 євреїв опинилися під нацистською окупацією. У травні 1942 р. у селі Верба було створено гетто, яке проіснувало в межах десяти днів. Розстріл євреїв відбувся 30 травня 1942 р. в с. Гранівка. Внаслідок ліквідації гетто було вбито 350 євреїв. Участь у розстрілі брав загін СД з Рівного, взвод 1-ї роти 33-го резервного поліцейського батальйону. Верба була звільнена 19 березня 1944 р. На місці розстрілу пам’ятник відсутній. |
