Klesiv is a town in Sarny district of Rivne region. According to the 1921 census, 142 Jews lived in Klesiv; at the beginning of World War II—about 200 Jews. Klesiv was occupied by German troops in mid-July 1941, and became a part of Sarny Gebiet. After the occupation, anti-Jewish measures were introduced in Klesiv (wearing identification marks, performing forced labor, and banning travel outside the town). The ghetto in Klesiv lasted a month. Established in July 1942, it was an open-type ghetto. Jews from the neighboring villages were also imprisoned in the Klesiv ghetto. The ghetto was liquidated on Wednesday, August 26, 1942. According to an eyewitness account about the events in Klesiv: ""…At about 7 o'clock in the morning, about 600 Jews gathered in the square. All these people were guarded by the police… At about 4 pm, all the Jews were pushed into the railroad cars. After the loading, on the same day the train was sent to the town of Sarny, where all of them were shot."" 580 Jews from Klesiv, who were shot in Sarny, were on that train. A few days later, the Jews who were in hiding (15 people) were shot dead, too. Klesiv was liberated on January 7, 1944. |

Клесів – селище міського типу Сарненського району Рівненської області. Згідно перепису 1921 р. у Клесові проживало 142 єврея, на початку Другої світової війни – близько 200 євреїв. Клесів був окупований німецькими військами в середині липня 1941 р. та був включений до гебіту Сарни. Після окупації у Клесові діяли антиєврейські заходи (носіння розпізнавального знаку, виконання примусових робіт, заборона виїзду за межі селища). Гетто у Клесові проіснувало місяць. Гетто було відкритого типу, створене в липні 1942 р. Бранцями гетто Клесова були також євреї із сусідніх сіл. Ліквідація гетто відбулася 26 серпня 1942 р. Зі слів очевидця про події у Клесові: «… Приблизно о 7-ій годині ранку, на площі, було зібрано біля 600 чоловік єврейського населення. Усіх цих людей охороняла поліція… Приблизно о 16-ій годині всіх євреїв почали запихати у вагони. Весь потяг після завантаження цього ж дня відправили в м. Сарни, де всі вони були розстріляні». У потязі опинилося 580 євреїв Клесова, які були розстріляні в Сарнах. Через декілька днів були розстріляні євреї (15 чол.), які переховувалися. Клесів звільнено 7 січня 1944 р. |
