Derazhne is a village in Kostopil district of Rivne region. One of the first mentions of the village dates back to 1274. Mentions of the Jewish community of Derazhne are known since 1614–1615. In the 1700s, less than 100 Jews lived in the village. In the 18th century, the Jewish community decreased in number, but still made a considerable percentage: according to the 1897 census, the community numbered 770 Jews out of the total population of 1,497. After World War I, in 1921, there were 624 Jews in the village. In the interwar period, a Tarbut school, and local cells of parties and youth movements, functioned in Derazhne. However, along with the socio-cultural development of the Jewish community in the village, anti-Semitism intensified in the 1930s. In September 1939, Derazhne became part of the Soviet Union. The result of the accession was the dismantling of all Jewish institutions and organizations. The village was occupied by German troops on June 28, 1941. Derazhne became a part of Kostopil Gebiet of Volyn-Podillia General District. There was a Judenrat in Derazhne, and the Jews of the village wore identification marks in the form of the Star of David. Jews were used as unpaid labor, and the Jewish community was systematically subjected to acts of violence and abuse. In October 1941, a ghetto was established (there were about 1,000 Jews in the Derazhne ghetto), which remained until August 24, 1942. In the process of termination of the ghetto, the total number of the Jews killed, together with those from the village of Osova, was 1,868 (500 of which where Jews from the village of Derazhne). Some ghetto prisoners managed to escape on the eve of the termination. A large part was seized by the Ukrainian police and the German gendarmerie. In the fall of 1942, 152 Jews were shot dead in the Bychanskii Forest. Derazhne was liberated on February 5, 1944. There is no monument at the place of execution. |

Деражне, село, що входить до Костопільського району Рівненської області. Одна з перших згадок про село датується 1274 р. Згадки про єврейську громаду Деражного з’являються близько 1614 – 1615 рр. У 1700-х роках у селі проживало менше 100 євреїв. Впродовж XVIII ст. чисельність єврейської громади зменшилась, проте за переписом населення 1897 р. вона складала 770 євреїв від загальної чисельності населення – 1,497 тис. Після Першої світової війни у 1921 р. чисельність євреїв села складала 624 єврея. У міжвоєнний період у Деражному функціонувала школа Тарбут осередки партій та молодіжних рухів. Проте, поруч із соціально-культурним розвитком єврейської громади села, у 1930-х роках активізувалися прояви антисемітизму. У вересні 1939 р. Деражне увійшло до складу Радянського Союзу. Результатом приєднання стала ліквідація всіх єврейських інституцій та організацій. Німецькими військами село було окуповане 28 червня 1941 р. Деражне увійшло до складу гебіту Костопіль генерального округу «Волинь-Поділля». У Деражному діяв юденрат, євреї села носили розпізнавальні знаки у вигляді зірки Давида. Євреїв залучали до примусової праці без оплати, єврейська громада систематично піддавалася актам насилля та знущання. У жовтні 1941 р. було створено гетто (близько 1,000 тис. євреїв перебували у деражненському гетто), яке проіснувало до 24 серпня 1942 р. Під Костополем унаслідок ліквідації гетто було вбито разом з євреями с. Осова близько 1,868 тис. євреїв ( 500 євреїв з с. Деражне). Частині бранців гетто вдалося втекти напередодні ліквідації. Значна частина була схоплена українською поліцією та німецькою жандармерією. Восени 1942 р. у Бичанському лісі було розстріляно 152 єврея. Деражне звільнене 5 лютого 1944 р. Пам’ятник на місці розстрілу відсутній. |
