Druzhkopil is a former town, now the village of Zhuravynky of Horokhiv district of Volyn region. The local Jewish community has been known since the second half of the 17th century. In 1897, the town housed 870 Jews, who made up almost 65% of the population. Druzhkopil was occupied on the second day of the German-Soviet war, on June 22, 1941. The very next day, the Nazis shot dead 5 Jews, accusing them of links to the Communist Party. The killings continued. The largest mass execution took place on September 8, 1942. As a result of the Red Army offensive on April 1, 1944, German troops were driven out of the village. |

Дружкопіль – колишнє містечко, нині с. Журавники Горохівського району Волинської області. Іудейська громада відома із другої половини XVII ст. У 1897 р. у містечку проживало 870 євреїв, які становили майже 65% усіх жителів. Дружкопіль був окупований у перший день німецько-радянської війни 22 червня 1941 р. Вже наступного дня нацисти розстріляли 5 євреїв звинувативши їх у зв’язках із комуністичною партією. Вбивства продовжувались. Наймасовіша страта відбулась 8 вересня 1942 р. У результаті наступу Червоної армії 1 квітня 1944 р. німецькі війська були вибиті із селища. |
