Volodymyr-Volynskyi is a city in the Volyn region. The first mention of Jews here dates back to the 12th century. The community was actively growing. As of 1897, there were already 5,869 Jews living in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, who comprised up to 60% of the total population. The city was occupied on the second day of the German-Soviet war, on June 23, 1941. The killings of Jews started immediately. The largest massacre took place in the village of Pyatydni, 8 km away from the city. The shootings took place from September 1 to September 15, 1942. The total death toll could range from 13,500 to 18,000. The Jews sought refuge in the surrounding villages. Some of them tried to get to the village of Bilyn, 14 km away from Volodymyr-Volynskyi, where Polish guerrilla fighters were stationed. However, some of them were also hostile to the Jews. On March 19, 1944, Polish guerrilla fighters ordered all the Jews to move from the village of Bilyn to the village of Vorchyn, which is 9 km away. On the same day, they were all shot by Polish guerrillas (Narodowe Siły Zbrojne). The total number of victims reached around 120 people. As a result of combat operations, the territory was taken over by the Red Army in July 1944.

Володимир-Волинський – місто у Волинській області. Перші згадки про євреїв відносяться до XII ст. Громада активно розвивалась. Станом на 1897 р. у Володимирі-Волинському вже проживало 5 869 євреїв, які складали майже 60% від загальної чисельності населення. Місто було окуповане на другий день німецько-радянської війни – 23 червня 1941 р. Одразу розпочались вбивства євреїв. Найбільша розправа пройшла у с. П’ятидні, що за 8 км від міста. Розстріли відбувалися з 1 по 15 вересня 1942 р. Загальна кількість жертв сягнула від 13 500 до 18 000 людей. Євреїв шукали порятунку в навколишніх селах. Деякі з них намагались дістатись с. Білин, що за 14 км від Володимира-Волинського, де перебували польські партизани. Однак, окремі з них також були налаштовані вороже проти євреїв. За наказом польських партизан, 19 березня 1944 р. євреї із с. Білин має перейти у с. Ворчин, що в 9 км. Того ж дня всі вони були розстріляні польськими партизанами (Narodowe Sily Zbrojne). Загальна кількість жертв сягнула близько 120 осіб. У результаті ведення бойових дій у липні 1944 р. вказану територію зайняла Червона армія.
