Holoby is an urban-type settlement in the Kovel district of the Volyn region, 28 km away from the district center. The Jewish community lived in the town before WWII. At the end of June 1941 Holoby was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. The implementation of Holocaust policies in the town soon followed. One of the shootings took place in August 1942 in the Zabirya terrain near the village. The exact number of victims remains unknown. Several hundred Jews from Holoby and surrounding villages were probably executed at the terrain. In 2003, a monument was erected at the site of the shooting. As a result of combat operations, on July 6, 1944 German troops were finally driven out of Kovel. During the occupation, mass executions of Jews also took place in other settlements of the district: Melnytsia, Povorsk, Stare Koshary, Toykuta, Shkuraty. |

Голоби – селище міського типу у Ковельському районі Волинській області. Розташоване на відстані 28 км від райцентру. Єврейська громада у містечку проживала ще до початку Другої світової війни. Наприкінці червня 1941 р. Голоби окупували війська вермахту. У містечку почали втілювати політику Голокосту. Один із розстрілів відбувся у серпні 1942 р. в урочищі Забір'я поблизу селища. Точна кількість жертв залишається невідомою. Ймовірно в урочищі було страчено кількасот євреїв із Голоб та навколишніх сіл. У 2003 р. на місці розстрілу було встановлено пам'ятник. У результаті ведення бойових дій, 6 липня 1944 р. німецькі війська були остаточно вибиті з Ковеля. У період окупації масові страти євреїв відбувались і в інших населених пунктах округи: Мельниці, Поворську, Старих Кошарах, Тойкуті, Шкуратах. |
