A large Jewish community lived in the Volyn town of Matsiyov (since 1946—Lukiv). One of the first mentions of the community dates back to 1563. Gradually, the shtetl grew. As of 1897, there were already 2,337 Jews living in Volodymyr-Volynskyi; they comprised up to 60% of the total population. Around June 24, 1941 Matsiyov was occupied by the German army. The executions of Jews actually began in the very first days. A ghetto was established in the town. In early September 1942, to implement the Holocaust politics, all the Jews from Matsiyiv ghetto were brought to a limestone quarry outside the town and shot. About 1,800 people were killed. 130 Jews from Nova Vyzhva could have been among them In 1993, a monument was erected here. As a result of combat operations, on Tuesday, July 18, 1944, Matsiyiv was taken over by the Red Army. During the German occupation, mass executions also took place in other settlements of the district: Turiisk, Okunyn, Sushybaba, and Khvorostiv. |

Значна єврейська громада проживала у волинському містечку Маційов (з 1946 р. Луків). Одна з перших згадок про общину відноситься до 1563 р. Штетл поступово розвивався. У 1897 р. тут проживало 2 337 євреїв, які становили 60% від загальної чисельності населення. Близько 24 червня 1941 р. Маційов був окупований німецькою армією. Розстріли євреїв почались фактично із перших днів. У містечку було створено гетто. Втілюючи політику Голокосту, на початку вересня 1942 р. всі євреї із гетто Маційова були вивезені за містечко і розстріляні у вапняному кар’єрі. Жертвою страти стало близько 1 800 осіб. Серед них ймовірно і 130 євреїв із Нової Вижви. У 1993 р. на цьому місці встановили пам’ятник. У результаті ведення бойових дій 18 липня 1944 р. Маційов зайняла Червона армія. За час німецької окупації масові страти євреїв також проходили у населених пунктах округи – Турійську, Окунині, Сушибабі, Хворостові. |
