The first mentions of Jews in Luboml date back to the second half of the 14th century. The shtetl gradually grew. As of 1897, there were already 3,247 Jews living in the town; they comprised 73% of the total population. Luboml was occupied by German troops on June 25, 1941. From the very first days, the Nazis began to implement Holocaust policies. The place of mass executions in Lyuboml was the old cemetery. The killings took place systematically during the summer of 1941 and July 1942. A total of 392 victims of the shootings are known. As a result of combat operations, on Wednesday, July 19, 1944, Luboml was taken over by the Red Army. During the German occupation, mass executions of Jews also took place in other villages of the district - Birki, Opalyn (Vyshnivka), Holovne, Chornoplesy.

Перші згадки про євреїв у Любомлі відносяться до другої половини XIV ст. Штетл активно розвивався. У 1897 р. у містечку вже проживало 3 247 євреїв, які становили 73% від загальної чисельності населення. Любомль був окупований німецькими військами 25 червня 1941 р. З перших днів нацисти почали втілювати політику Голокосту. Місцем масових страт у Любомлі стало старе кладовище. Вбивства проходили систематично упродовж літа 1941 р. та липня 1942 р. Загалом відомо про 392 жертви розстрілів. У результаті ведення бойових дій, 19 липня 1944 р. Любомль зайняла Червона армія. У період німецької окупації масові страти євреїв відбувались також в інших селах округи – Бірках, Опалині (Вишнівка), Головно, Чорноплесах.
