The Jewish community of Liubeshiv (now an urban-type settlement in the Volyn region) dates back to the 17th century. Gradually, the shtetl grew. As of 1897, there were already 1,888 Jews living in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, who comprised up to 69 % of the total population. With the beginning of the German-Soviet war, the Nazis began to implement Holocaust politics in the occupied territories. A ghetto was established in the town. Pursuing the goal of exterminating all Jews, in August 1942, one of the shootings of ghetto residents took place in the forest near the village of Volia Liubeshivska. Between 500 and 600 Jews died in the massacre. In 1990, a monument was erected at the site of the massacre. In 2015, it was renovated. Mass executions of Jews during the Nazi occupation also took place in the surrounding villages of Liubyaz and Sudche. Units of the Red Army occupied Liubeshiv on July 20, 1944.

Єврейська громада Любешова (нині селище міського типу у Волинській області) бере свій відлік із XVII ст. Штетл поступово розвивався. Станом на 1897 р. у містечку вже проживало 1 888 євреїв, які становили 69 % від усіх мешканців. Із початком німецько-радянської війни, нацисти почали реалізовувати політику Голокосту на зайнятих територіях. У містечку було створено гетто. Переслідуючи мету знищення усіх євреїв, у серпні 1942 р., один з розстрілів жителів гетто відбувся в лісі поблизу с. Воля Любешівська. Під час розправи загинуло від 500 до 600 євреїв. У 1990 р. на місці страти встановили пам’ятник. У 2015 р. його було оновлено. Масові страти євреїв у роки нацистської окупації також проходили у навколишніх селах Люб'язь та Судче. Підрозділи Червоної армії зайняли Любешів 20 липня 1944 р.
