The Jewish community of Kamin-Kashirskyi (now the district center in the Volyn region) dates back to the middle of the 16th century. As of 1897, there were already 1,189 Jews living in Volodymyr-Volynskyi; they comprised up to 98% of the total population. With the beginning of the German-Soviet war, Kamin-Kashirskiy was occupied on June 26, 1941. The Nazi authorities immediately began implemented Holocaust politics through mass killings. Jews fled the town and tried to escape to the surrounding forests, but were also persecuted there. In the fall of 1942 in Sirchenskyi forest, not far from the village of Krasnylivka, local police found and killed about 15 Jewish fugitives. Mass executions also took place in Khoteshiv, Cherche, and Mala Hlusha. Red Army units occupied Kamin-Kashirskyi on April 16, 1944.

Єврейська громада Каменя-Каширського (нині районний центр у Волинські області) бере свій відлік із середини XVI ст. У 1897 р. у містечку проживало 1 189 євреїв, які складали 98% від загальної чисельності населення. Із початком німецько-радянської війни, Камінь-Каширський був окупований 26 червня 1941 р. Нацистська влада одразу почала втілювати політику Голокосту шляхом масових вбивств. Євреї тікали з містечка і намагались врятуватись у навколишніх лісах, але й там їх також переслідували. Восени 1942 р. у Сірченському лісі, що неподалік с. Краснилівка місцева поліція виявила і вбила близько 15 втікачів євреїв. Масові страти відбувались також у Хотешові, Черчому, Малій Глуші. Підрозділи Червоної армії зайняли Камінь-Каширський 16 квітня 1944 р.
