Troianiv is a village in Zhytomyr district. Jews settled here in the mid 18th century, and by the late 19th century made up 18.6% of the population, or 1469 people. At the beginning of World War II, the number of Jews in Troianiv dropped to 581, or 11.3%.

The town was occupied on July 15, 1941. On August 9, 1941, the first killing of local Jews took place. The victims were 22 Jews identified as ""communists."" The shooting was performed by the 454th Wehrmacht Security Division. Between August 18 and 20, another 26 Jews from Troianiv and the neighboring village of Rudnia were shot dead. The largest massacre took place in October 1941, when 493 Jews were killed. The shooting range was the landfill between Troianiv and Rudnia.

Троянів – село Житомирського району. Євреїв поселяються тут в середині XVIII століття і на кінець наступного складають 18,6% населення – 1469 осіб. На початок Другої світової війни кількість євреїв у Троянові зменшилась до 581 особи, що становило 11,3%.

Містечко було окуповане 15 липня 1941 року. 9 серпня 1941 року було здійснене перше вбивство місцевих євреїв. Жертвами стали 22 євреї, яких було ідентифіковано як «комуністів». Розстріл здійснювала 454 охоронна дивізія Вермахту. Між 18 та 20 серпням було розстріляно ще 26 євреїв з Троянова та сусіднього села Рудня. Наймасовіша акція розстрілу відбулася в жовтні 1941 року, коли було знищено 493 євреї. Місцем розстрілу став полігон між Трояновим та Руднею.

Окрім Троянова та Рудні, жертвами Голокосту в Житомирському районі стали євреї с. Кодня.
