Radomyshl is a district center in Zhytomyr region, known in chronicles since the mid 12th century. The first mentions of the local Jews date back to the 18th century. According to the 1897 census, Jews comprised 69% of the local population—7,500 people.

During the civil war, Jewish pogroms took place in the town on several occasions, thus the Jewish population of Radomyshl decreased significantly. According to the 1939 census, the town was home to 2350 Jews, who comprised 20% of its total population.

On July 20, 1941, Radomyshl was occupied by the Nazis. A ghetto was established in the city.

At the beginning of August 1941, while operating in this area, Sonderkommando 4a performed the first executions. On August 5-8, 1941, 276 Jews were shot here.

The second shooting took place a month later. On September 6, 1941, Sonderkommando 4a shot 1,107 Jewish men in the Kuzmychiv natural landmark. In two days, on September 8, 567 women and children were shot at the same place. The men were shot by the Nazis, while women and children were shot by the Ukrainian police. The total number of victims was 1168.

Радомишль – районний центр Житомирської області, відомий в літописах ще із середини XII століття. Перші згадки про євреїв датуються XVIII століттям. Згідно з переписом 1897 року, євреї становили 69% місцевого населення – 7500 осіб.

Протягом громадянської війни в місті неодноразово відбувалися єврейські погроми, тому кількість єврейського населення Радомишля значно скоротилась. Станом на 1939 рік тут проживало 2350 євреїв (20% місцевого населення).

20 липня 1941 року Радомишль був остаточно окупований нацистами. В місті було створено гетто.

На початку серпня 1941 року на цій території діяла зондеркоманда 4а, яка й здійснила перші акції розстрілу. Протягом 5-8 серпня 1941 року тут було розстріляно 276 євреїв.

Через місяць відбудеться другий розстріл. 6 вересня 1941 року в урочищі Кузьмичів зондеркоманда 4а розстріляла 1107 єврейських чоловіків, а за два дні, 8 вересня, на тому ж місці було розстріляно 567 жінок та дітей. Якщо чоловіків розстрілювали нацисти, то жінок та дітей - українська поліція. Загальна кількість жертв складає 1168 осіб.
