Narodychi is a town, a district center in Zhytomyr region. Its first mentions in written records date back to the mid 16th century. The first mentions of the local Jews date back to the second half of the 17th century. Their occupations were traditional—craft and trade. According to the 1897 census, Jews comprised almost half of the population of Narodychi—45% or 2,054 people. As a result of wars and revolutions, as of 1939, the Jewish population of Narodychi decreased significantly, and numbered 1,233 people (18% of the population).
The town was occupied on August 22, 1941. On August 28 (according to other sources, in September), 1941, the auxiliary Ukrainian police brought the Jews of Narodychi to the town’s Palace of Culture. There they were divided: men, women, and children separately. 50 people were sent to dig up pits.  The Jews were registered, after which they were taken to the execution pits (to the northwest of the city). The shooting was performed by Sonderkommando 4a. The total number of victims was 268 (according to other sources, 350) people.
The second shooting in Narodychi took place in November 1941. Semen Friedman managed to escape both shootings.

Народичі – районний центр Житомирської області, селище міського типу. Відоме в писемних пам’ятках з середини XVI століття. З другої половини наступного століття з’являються перші згадки про євреїв на цій території. Заняття їх були традиційними – ремесло і торгівля. Згідно з переписом 1897 року євреї складали майже половину населення Народичів – 45% або 2054 особи. Внаслідок війн та революцій станом на 1939 рік кількість єврейського населення Народичів суттєво зменшилась і складала 1233 особи (18% населення).
Містечко було окуповане 22 серпня 1941 року. 28 серпня (за іншими даними, у вересні) 1941 року допоміжна українська поліція зігнала євреїв Народичів до міського Палацу культури. Там їх розділили: окремо чоловіки, жінки та діти. 50 осіб було відправлено копати ями.  Євреїв зареєстрували, після чого відвезли їх до розстрільних ям (на північний захід від міста). Розстріл здійснювала зондеркоманда 4а. Загальна кількість жертв склала 268 (за іншими даними, 350) осіб.
Другий розстріл у Народичах відбувся в листопаді 1941 року. Cеменові Фрідману вдалося уникнути обох розстрілів.
