Kupyshche is a village in Korosten district of Zhytomyr region. It is located 9 km away from Korosten.

In 1941-1943, units of the 2nd Hungarian Army were stationed in Korosten district. Jews from Hungary and Transcarpathia were brought here for forced physical labor. In addition to performing various jobs, the Jewish workers were abused by the Hungarians: for instance, they were forced to walk on minefields.  A ""hospital” was established in the village of Kupyshche. Actually, it was a place where sick Jews were brought to die. In 1943, an epidemic of typhus broke out among workers. On April 29, 1943, the Hungarians set the ""hospital” on fire. At that time, it housed about 600 people. Most of them were burned, and those lucky enough to escape the fire were shot with rifles. However, several people managed to escape and tell the story. An investigation conducted under the control of Hungarian Defense Minister V. Nadia came to the conclusion that the fire was caused by the carelessness of the Jews who smoked.

In addition to the village of Kupyshche, the places of execution of Jews in Korosten district are located in the district center (4 places of execution), and the village of Ushomyr.

В 1941-1943 рр. в Коростенському районі дислокувались частини 2-ї угорської армії. Для примусової фізичної праці сюди перевезли євреїв з Угорщини та Закарпаття. Окрім виконання різноманітних робіт, угорці знущались із єврейських працівників: наприклад, примушували ходити по мінних полях. В с. Купище, в колишній конюшні розташовувався «госпіталь». Насправді це було місце, куди хворих євреїв звозили вмирати. В 1943 р. серед працівників почалась епідемія тифу. 29 квітня 1943 року угорці підпалили «госпіталь», у якому на той час знаходилось близько 600 осіб. Більшість згоріли, а тих, кому пощастило врятуватись від вогню, розстрілювали з кулеметів. Проте декільком особам вдалось втекти та про все розповісти. Розслідування, проведене під контролем угорського міністра оборони В. Надя, виявило, що пожежа була викликана необережністю самих євреїв, які палили.

Окрім с. Купище, в Коростенському районі місця розстрілів євреїв розташовуються в самому райцентрі (4 розстрільних місця) та с. Ушомир.
