Rohachiv is a village in Baranivka district of Zhytomyr region. Just like in Baranivka, in the late 19th century Jews comprised over 90% of the population of Rohachiv—1303 people. At the beginning of the German-Soviet war, about 300 Jews lived in Rohachiv, a third of whom managed to evacuate.
In early July 1941, the Nazis occupied the town, and in late July an open ghetto was established in the center of Rohachiv. On October 1, 1941, the ghetto was closed down.
On August 19, 1941, near the village of Ostrozhok, 89 Jews from Rohachiv and surrounding villages were shot dead in the Kytaishchyna natural landmark. Theywere men aged 15 to 50 years. The Nazi-led local police trained to shoot civilians in the area.
In addition to Kytaishchyna, the executions of the Jews of Rohachiv took place in two other places: near the road from Rohachiv to Kamiany Brid, and on the outskirts of the village Ostrozhok.

Рогачів – село Баранівського району Житомирської області. На кінець XIX століття, як і Баранівці, в тоді містечку Рогачові євреї складали більше 90% населення – 1303 особи. На час початку німецько-радянської війни в Рогачеві проживало близько 300 євреїв, третина з яких з початку війни евакуювалась.
На початку липня 1941 року нацисти окупували містечко, а наприкінці місяця в центрі Рогачова було створено гетто відкритого типу. 1 жовтня 1941 року гетто було ліквідоване.
19 серпня 1941 року біля села Острожок, в урочищі Китайщина було розстріляно 89 євреїв з Рогачова та навколишніх сіл. Це були чоловіки віком від 15 до 50 років. В цьому урочищі під керівництвом нацистів тренувалась місцева поліція розстрілювати мирне населення.
Окрім Китайщини, розстріли євреїв Рогачева відбувалися ще у двох місцях: біля дороги Рогачів – Кам’яний Брід, та на околицях села Острожок.
