Stara Kotelnia is a village in Andrushivka district of Zhytomyr region. Its first mention dates back to the middle of the 12th century. As for the Jews, they comprised a significant proportion: according to the 1897 census, the village had a population of 1343 Jews, or 42.2% of the population.
The Nazis occupied the town in late July, 1941. Circa September 1941, the Jewish population was shot at the natural landmark behind the brick factory. The Jews of Stara Kotelnia and the surrounding villages were brought to the barn, and then taken to the execution pits in groups of 30-40 people. The total number of people shot in this location is 1,500.
The second location of execution of the Jews of Stara Kotelnia is located in the village of Nova Kotelnia behind the Catholic church.

Стара Котельня – село Андрушівського району Житомирської області. Перші згадки про нього датуються ще серединою XII століття. Що стосується євреїв, то воно складало значну частку: за переписом 1897 року в селищі проживало 1343 євреї, що становило 42,2% населення.
Нацисти окупували село на початку липня 1941 року. Орієнтовно у вересні 1941 року відбувся розстріл єврейського населення в урочищі за цегляним заводом. Євреїв Старої Котельні та навколишніх сіл зігнали до сараю, а потім відводили до розстрільних ям по 30-40 осіб. Загальна кількість розстріляних у цьому місці складає біля 300 осіб.
Друге місце розстрілу євреїв Старої Котельні знаходиться в с. Нова Котельня за католицьким костелом.
